Hibernating With Him

Happy New Year!

I’ve been rather neglectful last month with my blog. It has been a month for holiday busyness, Bible study and reflection. Oh how invigorating it is to spend time alone hibernating with God and His beautiful words in the Bible. When I feel like I’m getting a little out of focus, fearful, frustrated or defeated, I have to unplug. I have to fast from other inspirational sources like church, friends, extended family or self help books. They each play a part for encouragement and instruction, but sometimes they can be a placebo. What I really need is to just sit at the feet of Jesus and spend time getting to know Him.

“Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word. But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:38-41 (NASB)

Isn’t it so awesome how the Lord assures and invites us to hibernate with Him? Which one best describes you in your season of life, Martha or Mary?

I’m very excited about the upcoming year. This year I’m going to study the book of Romans and exercise my scripture memorization skills. I’m also planning to ponder and blog my way through the book of Proverbs. Feel free to follow my blog, compare ponders or comment as I journey through it.

Wishing all a Happy Hibernation Season with Christ!
