Be Magnolia Green

Why do I care? I’m thankful to be living in a country with abundant resources and opportunities. Yes, I have access to milk, strawberries or sushi whenever I want. All I have to do is go and purchase it at my local grocery store. I’ve lived most of my life taking these conveniences for granted. Not understanding that throughout history foods, occupations, and resources were seasonal. “Mother Nature” controlled what our ancestors consumed, produced, and gathered on a daily basis. Over the past five years, I’ve been learning and implementing environmentally friendly techniques and products in my home. I believe, a sometimes awkward, green lifestyle is more economical in the long run than living as a consumer of convenience.  I’ve lived throughout the Deep South and am currently residing in Mississippi. I hope in sharing my journey it will inspire others, especially in the South, to be more environmentally conscious.

What does this website have to offer? provides step-by-step instructions for giving your home a “Green Makeover” one room at a time. Shares money saving tips on shopping and creative gift giving. And lastly gives advice on getting your whole family on board with frugal sustainable living.

Wondering where to start? Right here with 7 easy steps!

Need a good laugh? Then check out my superhero alter ego gag cartoon Be Magnolia Green Adventures. Follow the adventures of a suburban housewife embracing a greener lifestyle one chuckle at a time.

Lastly, what nickname would I love to have? Southern Granola.

Thanks for stopping by.

I am so excited about the launch of this new site. I look forward to learning more on this topic. I have tried on and off for years to be a more conscientious consumer and reduce the waste I create on this planet. Sometimes it can be overwhelming and I stop all together for a while. Hopefully this site will help us all think about what we are doing without becoming to discouraged. Maybe we can encourage each other to take baby steps and maybe start with one area that will be easy for each of us an as individual to do. And as these new actions become habit, we can add more changes. Everyone may not be able to do everything “Green.” Some things may be doable or hold more appeal to one person and not another. And that is Ok. Even in your own personal day to day living there will be seasons in our life where it is feasible to do one thing but not another. Yet one tip could lead to one change that may be the catalyst for a person to think of these things in a different light. And that different light can cause a ripple effect that can spread throughout a whole community, society, maybe even across the world. So here we go!!! I am ready to ride!

I received some samples of the laundry detergent for Christmas and have loved it. Things I love about it so far are: the product works well, I only have to use a small amount to clean a load, and I feel safe putting the clean clothes on my two small children. Thank you for making safe products available and I look forward to seeing what 2014 brings for you. Merry Christmas!

You’re welcome Heather! I plan to share all my recipes soon. I have allergies and very sensitive skin, so pure all natural products is the way I’ve had to go in my household. I’m thrilled others will find these products helpful as well.

      With deep appreciation,
