Concern for Mary

This morning, being Good Friday, I decided to read John 19. Verses 25 through 27 stood out to me the most this morning. Here is Jesus being crucified with actually the weight of the world on his shoulders and he is making sure someone will be taking care of his mother in his absence.

Behold Your Mother25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.  — John 19:25-27 New King James Version (NKJV)

It is during poignant times like these, that God demonstrates His love for the individual even while focusing on the overall picture.
