Favorite Halloween Treats

In honor of Halloween we wanted to share some of our favorite treats of the season. Some are homemade and others are must haves for the candy cauldron.

Candy Cauldron Must Haves:DSC02977

Bite sized Snicker bars
Kraft Carmels
Candy corns
Tootsie Rolls
Kit Kats
Hershey Bars
Lollipops
Orange white chocolate Twix bars
Reese’s peanut butter pumpkins
And anything Chocolate!

Sucker Ghosts
What you’ll need:
Dumdum or Tootsie Pop
Tissue or Toilet paper
Ribbon or festive twist ties
Black Permanent Marker
What to do: Place the top of the sucker in middle of the tissue square, covering the sucker and then tying a little piece of ribbon at the base of the sucker. Draw two black dots with a sharpie for the eyes.

DSC02974Popcorn Balls*
What you’ll need:
2 quarts popped corn
1 tablespoons salted butter
2 cup Pure Cane Syrup
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup of chopped pecans
What to do: Boil syrup and salt over a low heat, stirring constantly. When few drops tested in cold water becomes brittle, add butter. Add popped corn and pecans in a large bowl together, then pour syrup, mix and shape into large balls.

It’s a good idea to get a good meal down the kiddos before they go trick or treating. Offering healthier snacks like foods high in protein and whole grains before the big event will lessen the risk of overeating candy.

Fingers and Eyeballs in a Baggie
Black Grapes, baby carrots, Black olives, and string cheese thrown in a snack zipper bag makes a quick and easy on the go snack.

Fun Shaped Chicken Wraps
Take thinly sliced raw chicken breast cutlets, Get your favorite Halloween cookies cutter and press firmly down on chicken. Use a sharp knife and cut around the outside of the cookie cutter shape. Coat the chicken with olive oil and seasoning or breading. Bake about 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Or cook on medium high on stove top until slightly brown. Serve with flour tortillas, lettuce and ranch dressing for a quick on the go wrap.

Pumpkin and Ghost Sandwiches
Serve peanut butter and jelly on white bread and cut out the shape of a ghost with a knife. Add two chocolate chips or raisins for the eyes. Use whole wheat bread with your favorite lunch meat and cheese. Cut the sandwich in the shape of a pumpkin with a cookie cutter. Use an edible marker to draw the details ofDSC02973 the pumpkin on the top piece of bread.
