Friends

“A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
— Proverbs 18:24 (New King James Version) —

Friends

Friends, oh so many good friends
God has given me through the years.
But now as I am growing older
I see them through my tears.

Tears! Why all the tears?
There is so much to remember
Memories of dear friends gone on before
They made me so happy while they were here.

Happy? Be happy for friends still here
And let them know you hold them dear
Lift them up each time you meet them
With a smile and a hug when you greet them.

Greeting friends! How very sweet
To be embraced by a friend when you meet
A precious friend who has been away
And now at last is home to stay.

All our friends are so very dear
Whether they are far or near
They help us our daily burdens to bear
And encourage us on without a care

Every friend is so very precious
Their deeds of love show their feelings for us.
There is always one very best friend
And that one is God, our friend until the end.

God gave us our friends to help us along
The pathways of life, and to keep us strong
As we travel together along life’s highway
Holding God’s hand as together we pray.
