On this date the 14th of September in 1990, our paternal great Grandma Burris passed away in Oklahoma. Rosa Pearl (Raabe) Burris was laid to rest next to her husband, Asa Azil Burris in Drumright’s North Cemetery, Drumright, Creek County, Oklahoma.
Asa and Rosa Burris had 11 children including our grandmother Ida Mae.
According to the Dawes Final Roll of the Five Civilized Tribe General Alottment Act or Dawes Act, she is listed as Rosa Raabe, card #1065 and Roll # 3455.** Her parents, Chris Raabe and Ida Raabe, and maternal grandparents, Thomas and Sylvia Carlile, were also included on the list.

“I did not know her well. I know she had a rough life. I know she loved all her children. I have a couple of letters she wrote to me in broken English that I cherish.
