I remember when my husband, James Jr. and I first married we lived down the street from his dad. Every morning I’d see him riding his bike down the street in his straw hat. I also have good memories of him smoking his pipe in the evening.
He served in the United States Army from 1954 til 1956 and received the National Defense Service Medal; Army of Occupation Medal (Germany); and Good Conduct Medal.**
James W Hester, Sr., 73 died Monday, September at home. Visitation and Funeral was held at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson, Mississippi on September 8, 2004. Entombment in Lakewood Memorial Park, Jackson, Mississippi.
Mr. Hester was retired from the Mississippi Capitol Police. He attended Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors include: son, James W Hester, Jr. and wife Emily of Jackson; grandson, Nathan James Hester; and brother, G.W. Hester, Jr. of Webster County.
