John’s parents were probably James Keitha White and Elvira Freeman based on information found from the United States Federal Census. According to the 1880 US.Federal Census, John Smith was still single and living in Marksville, Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana with his younger brother, Louis Franklin “Frank” White, and sister-in-law, Louise Smith White (listed on census as Lonera).
