My Travel Companion
MY TRAVEL COMPANION
As I travel on life’s highway
Going a few miles every day
My companion walks beside me
And holds my hand to guide me.
He gives me peace as we travel along
Breathing a prayer or singing a song.
He shows me the turns in life to take
And helps me in every decision I make.
This companion is someone I love
Sent to me from God above.
In all my travels through this life
He gives me strength for every strife.
Until I reach the end of life’s road.
He will help to carry my heavy load.
Close beside me He will stay
And He will go with me all the way.
POEM BY LUCY DEE (WRIGHT) LAPRAIRIE BASS
“What A Friend We Have In Jesus” sung by Grace P. Wright
My Grandma Wright (Grace P. Wright, Oct. 22, 1887 – June 12, 1987) recorded this song on an old cassette player around 1983 at age 95. On a visit with my Aunt Irmarie, I was able to capture this video on my old Nokia phone of us listening to her singing. Sorry for the low quality, but those who knew my Grandma Wright will appreciate it none the less.
